"Sunday Tradition: a teapot, a jug of milk and two cups of tea for dogs""A proper cup of tea" as we like to call it in this house. A full pot of tea and a jug of milk on a Sunday afternoon - nice and proper indeed! I have so many different flavours of tea in my cupboard, my favourite being the peppermint tea, followed closely by green tea and a whole myriad of various fruit teas. But there is only one "proper tea" and that is the black tea - although I am enjoying a decaf version of it these days, being pregnant requires reduction in caffeine so I'm playing it safe. A real treat for me - relaxing, warming, tasty. We also, recently incorporated a new addition to this Sunday tradition and that is to treat our two puppies to a nice cup of tea too - they each get a little cup of cold milky decaf tea which they really love! Whenever I say "a cup of tea" their little faces lit up with joy and anticipation! Who doesn't like a nice proper cup of tea!

"Releasing the baby chicks from their nursery"The chicks that hatched at the start of June were the first ever chickens that James and I hatched on our smallholding. It is incredible just how fast they are growing up! They spent the first 4 weeks in their baby brooder indoors and now the last week inside the nursery shed that James has cobbled up using some leftover wire net and pieces of wood. Today, however, we decided that it would be good to release them so they get used to the large field and start free-ranging. Little by little this smallholding is becoming nice and established and with that we are inching closer and closer to our dream of self-sufficiency! "Guitar Fridays!"I started playing the guitar when I was 13 or 14 years old. I've been attending guitar lessons twice a week with a guitarist of a popular Lithuanian pop band. One I moved to the UK I left the classes behind and didn't pick the guitar up again for 7 or 8 years until one day James's cousin gave a really old Tanglewood Guitar to us saying it belonged to James when he was a kid! It must have been about 15 years old! So now that I have a little more time on my smallholding, I have been playing, practising, strumming and enjoying the guitar again. It's been nearly 18 months and I even started teaching one of my neighbours the basics that I knew! I have no musical talent whatsoever, but get lots of enjoyment and fun out of it and that's all that matters! "Sharing every day of my life with my best friend and wonderful husband James!" James is a thoughtful, attentive and caring husband who always brings me a cup of tea in the morning and always hugs me at night. He is full of energy and love for life, daring, brave and always confident that no matter what happens in life, he is strong enough to deal with any situation. He has been my rock in life for over 8 years and has taught me how to live my life to the fullest. He is my soul mate and I love him! |
