Chicken catching kindness
Sometimes in life, people do things that quite take you aback. The news seems to be filled with random acts of violence that are counterbalanced with acts of kindness. It's when people go out of their way to carry out a good turn not because they are obliged to, nor because it is an easy thing to do - but they do it because they want to do it! One such thing happened to us recently.

One tea time last month, there was a knock at the door, upon opening I was greeted by three teens, dressed as goths and emos with bedraggled long hair and multiple wardrobe malfunctions. I know they are local lads as they are often seen hanging around on the street corner at the end of the road playing Pokemon Go. . . .
. . . The ringleader asked me "We think this is yours" and under his arm was a chicken! They had seen it in the field next to the house and had spent about half an hour catching it!

The hen went AWOL over a month ago during a free range session. It might not even be our chicken as I am very surprised that a hen could survive out in Suburbia and didn't become a tasty dinner for a fox or a cat. The hen is safely back with its brood, no sign of bullying from the others and is laying well.
But thank you emo/goth teens who hang around street corners catching pokemon, you ain't half bad at catching chickens either! The random act of kindness will be passed forward.
