My mind is still in "folding" mode as I tidy up and evaluate my nappy options and then order more nappy cover wraps. This is what Saturday afternoons are made for! Parenting: We need more nappy covers Saturday 20th OctoberParenting: We need more nappy covers It seems that I am still in "folding" mode as my mind is full of nappies and nappy options. . . I was only saying yesterday that I switched from using muslin cloths to using terry towels, however, today I noticed that we don't seem to have enough waterproof nappy covers to go over the folded nappies. At first we thought that we would not use the covers as much, or even at all - but a couple of ruined outfits later, the covers are an essential element of our cloth nappy system. However, we didn't seem to have nearly enough for what we need (as I said, we didn't think we'd use them . . . ). So today we ordered more covers of various types - with inner liners, without inner liners, with poppers and with Velcro clips. . . I think this means we have 7 different ways to nappy our little fellow! 7. . . different!!! ways. . . 1) Terries into open wraps 2) Terries into lined cover wraps 3) Muslins into open wraps 4) Muslins into lined cover wraps 5) Bamboo inserts into open wraps 6) Muslin inserts into cover wraps 7) Plain cover wraps used as nappies I tidied up my nappy drawers, realising that terry towels are my first choice now and are in full use! I put them in an easily accessible place and hid the muslin cloths as they are now more pf a back up option. I also prefer to use the lined cover wraps as they seem to add a barrier and increase the containment of the whole nappy system! I love the towels we have. I fold them into an Origami (also known as Bat) fold and use a large nappy safety pin to hold it all in place. Although I must always remember to be careful with the safety pin, it is sharp! I already scraped Ron's thigh as I was removing it! Ouch! You can probably tell that we had a really quiet day today. A typical Saturday, just folding things away and sorting them out, getting ready for the following week. . . I was playing the "face game" with Ronnie again, as I now try to do every day. As I was doing the "baby baby" talk with him (literally saying "baby baby!" as I was tickling him and smiling at him) I was wondering if I talk to him enough. James tells him all sorts of things about wine making, about Wales, about parsnips and cows. . . But do I talk to him enough? I should get into the habit of explaining what I do to him, tell him stories and read more books together. My Nan says that the more you talk to the baby, the quicker they start talking too, which makes a lot of sense. I can't wait for Ronnie to have the words to express his thoughts and emotions! But I am also enjoying this time right here. . . This quiet Saturday afternoon of cwtches and love!
