This wasn't a planned visit, but as she was on the island anyway the midwife decided to pop in and check on the baby. She also got us registered with the local doctor's surgery! Medical Check: A visit in passing
Admin: Registered with local GP's office For now, there isn't a lot of interaction between our little baby and our two dogs but what is obvious is that Ron will grow up to be a doggy person - simply because he was always in the presence of two wonderful family dogs! Parenting: Night feeding woes
We live on a remote island, a place where our son is free to play, explore, experience and enjoy being a child! Is it really so bad to hope that he becomes a bit of a trouble maker? What does that even mean? Lesson Learned: Woollen hats are for outdoors
Milestone: Alert and aware Gifts: Welsh decorations Gifts: A basket full of clothes I am a supermum - if only for a moment when I return to my baby, wipe away his tears and feed him (again!). Gifts: A German shepherd dog toy
I am the local registrar so it is my duty to register the birth of my son and issue him a birth certificate. However, this is my first ever registration so I was a little nervous! Gifts: Dragon hoodie
Admin: Birth registered Parenting: Hair dryer hack Today we were visited by a midwife for the last time, which felt like we were closing a huge chapter of 2018 - there will be no more midwife visits! The sense of finality and completion that this signified left us feeling somewhat emotionally imploded. . . Medical Check: Last midwife visit
Ron is only 9 days old but has already outgrown his newborn outfits! Then again, he is eating so well, I am really not surprised he'd grown this much! Milestone: Newborn outfits outgrown
Experience: First tummy time I can't believe Ron is 1 week old today - the time is flying so quickly and my little baby boy was growing up so fast! We were visited by a midwife in the morning and a couple of friends who popped in later in the afternoon. Milestone: 1 week anniversary
Medical Check: Heel prick test Experience: First plaster Gifts: A cute outfit selection Milestone: First eye contact Just a nice quiet Sunday, trying to stay warm and spending time with the baby. Oh, and doing some internet shopping too, because . . . well, because hats and blankets! Parenting: Sleep feeding
Lesson Learned: Presume nothing, always check (again) |
