Today is Ron's 1 month birthday so we spend the day contemplating his future. We realised that we want to impart the attitude and values that will make him happy in life. We also vowed to save a little bit for his future! Milestone: 1 month old! Admin: "Bonnie Ronnie" blog created! Thursday 1st NovemberMilestone: 1 month old! Today is Ron's 1 month birthday! For he's a jolly good fellow!!! Hip Hip Hooray!!! First of all, we received a lovely package containing Ron's Christmas present. This was something little for his future, something that he may find a little enjoyment and satisfaction in when he grows up. We shall wrap it in a lovely festive wrapping paper in the next couple of weeks and it will be placed under the tree once we put it up. This got us thinking more seriously about Ron's future. James and I both agree that we have achieved all that we ever wanted for our lives, so we don't feel compelled to push Ron into any decision that would allow us to live our lives through him, so to speak. Our baby boy is free to live his life as he chooses, and all that he chooses will be his to choose. All we truly care about is him being happy, so our job is to provide him with tools to achieve and maintain happiness. . . Tools for happiness? Well, that's easy - good habits, good manners, respect and kindness to oneself and others, strength of character and a good sense of humour! If we send Ron into the big wide world armed by all these good things, I trust he will be a happy man indeed! We also want to put something little aside for Ron's future. We really loved the idea of silver coins and bars as it is something he would be able to cash in at any bank at any time - and the price of silver is bound to increase. . . It is a limited commodity that will always contain value as it is useful in technology and pharmaceutical industries. Coins also contain commemorative value and are fairly cheap - £20 to £40 per coin isn't a lot of money to invest at any one time and may just add up to a lovely little something once the baby turns 16, 18, 20 years old, whenever we feel most appropriate! There is nothing much we crave for ourselves at this stage in our lives, so it makes sense to save for our baby's future! Admin: "Bonnie Ronnie" blog created! Another way of investing in Ron's future could be creating a blog for him, as well as a YouTube channel. We might begin by writing little stories and making videos for him to look back upon (and to start building subscribers) but once he is older, he can learn all about social media and do it himself! If his blog and channel do well and people enjoy his content, it may grow into a nice little outlet for him to express himself and may also earn him a couple of extra passive pennies every month. I think it is a lovely gift!
Here is a link to his blog. Who knows what stories we will record in it, so it's worth checking out now and then returning to it (a little while) later!
