We promised them a run and then suddenly halted the plan in order to feed the hungry baby! Naturally, the needs of the baby come before the needs of our dogs - but we have already used "the words"! What to do? What to do? Let them go and then catch up, of course! Parenting: Baby box converted into toy box Friday 19th OctoberRon had a really good breakfast, a nice long feed and then he was calmly chillaxing on my chest. James pointed out that it was a lovely and sunny morning so we should go to the common and give the dogs a bit of a run around. I dressed up warm, wrapped the baby sling around myself, dressed Ron ready for October winds and then. . . he was hungry again! He wasn't as ravenous and starving as he had been only a couple of days ago, but I obviously hadn't timed our outing very well, as the baby was still a little peckish. The decision we had to make was: do we take a hungry baby out for a walk and feed him on the return (keeping in mind that the dogs are now super excited about the "going to the common to chase rabbits") or do we feed him again first and then go out later. Feeding him first seemed like a better idea, it was my duty to make sure the baby was well fed after all - anything else can wait! But the dogs couldn't wait! So I started feeding the baby, but James took the dogs out to play in the common fields next door, leaving me and Ronnie alone. Only a couple of minutes after James and the pack had left, Ron was done feeding - I guess he was thirsty more so than hungry! Anyway, it wasn't too late for us to catch up! I decided that this would be a good time to try wearing the snuggly baby wearing jumper that my sister-in-law sent me a couple of weeks ago but it was way too large for little Ronnie just yet - his little head wouldn't fit into the "baby" section of it as he slumps far down into the sling! There will be plenty of time yet to get this sling-jumper combination right! For now, I put it on unzipped (so it is still snuggly and warm, but not assembled), grabbed my coat and we were out the door! We caught up with the pack as they were heading back, but Ron and I fancied a further romp so Sam & Charlie got an extended walk in the common, lucky puppies! In the afternoon, we noticed that Ron is hiccuping really often - not a day goes by without an actual (and not metaphorical!) hiccup. He is hiccuping a lot! So much so that James has given him a cute nick name of "Ron the Hiccup!". Well, Ron the Hiccup looks adorable with his large nappies on! They are bulky (i.e. nicely absorbent!) and make my little baby's "bum look big in this" which in turn makes him look rather cutely disproportionate - a kin to a teletubbie, oompa loompa or a garden gnome! Adorable! Parenting: Baby box converted into toy box Ron mostly doses on top of me or James, where he feels most safe, cwtched and loved - but we do make some use of the Moses basket that our friends gave us last week! This means that the Scotland Baby Box is now completely free to be converted to a toy box, as I had originally predicted it would be. I have placed all of Ronnie's toys (not that many at this stage!) into the box and left it in his cot, which we haven't used yet but will do once he is a little older. . .
I am sure things will fall into place soon! We are all still finding our feet. . .
